No one knows where she came from, but over 200 years ago she appeared, leading a pack of pirates throughout the Caribbean. Named “Aruba Red” for her fiery red hair, she would slip aboard ships at sea in the dark of night, scouting for treasure. At sunrise, her pirate band would board the ship and make off with its valuables.
One moonlit night, she climbed aboard a ship and encountered a handsome young brewer guarding kegs of a uniquely crafted beer—the best concoction she’d ever tasted. Her eyes flashed in the moonlight, her scarlet tresses a radiant halo around her head, and in a moment, his heart was hers. To profess his undying love for her, the brewer scribbled the beer recipe on a scrap of canvas torn from the mainsail.
Touched by this gesture, Aruba Red folded the cloth into a locket she wore on her neck. When dawn broke, she knew the only thing she cared to take from the ship was the young brewer himself with whom she had fallen in love.
